thanks

in thinking about today, and what has occurred in the world--and also what is happening tomorrow, i was reminded about a favorite movie scene of mine (doesn't one always fit the occasion?) and how beautifully it captured our world and its state.

more than most days, i am thankful for so much--the love and unwavering compassion of a mom, friendships without which my life would be so incredibly lacking; the privilege of age. a time of the year in which it is mandatory to sit down, think about and take note of all that our lives have to offer us. all that we have been given. all that we should rejoice to have.

happy thanks.

tiny bubbles

occasionally weekly, though most likely to be less often, i will share a favorite quote. as for the first in this series, i present a quote by ralph waldo emerson--an excerpt from a letter to his daughter. nice way to end a long week.

"finish each day and be done with it. you have done what you could. some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. tomorrow is a new day. you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

feel the fall

i finally felt it. fall. saw it in the air and on the ground. meeting my feet with the rustling of leaves and searing my nose with the pinch of crisp air. the sun warming my face as i looked up at the quickly changing landscape. nature is telling us that it's doing something big. stretching a bit to get in position for winter.

fall has always been my favorite time of year. it's awe-inspiring to be part of such a notable change; the vibrant transition of the earth. a cyclical reminder that we all change and we all go through transition. shed who we were, to become more than what we thought we ever could.

hello

so, i'm here. now what to do? the beginning can be a rough place to start anything, but i'm glad i'm here. glad i made it. glad to be started. not promising anything earth-shaking, life-changing or mind-altering, but hopefully it will be fun. for me and for all those who visit. fingers crossed.
